Planet Earth is threatened by evil space invaders. You have to keep them off from landing and occupying the planet. You will succeed by pressing the according key to the space ship. However, you only can eliminate the leading ship! During the battle, new space ships will appear constantly.
The game consists of 40 attack waves; eight levels with five sub-levels each, where the speed and selection of queried keys grow.
Eliminate the leading ship by pressing the letter on the keyboard. If you hit a wrong key, the speed will increase a bit. If you hit a space ship, the speed will decrease half a bit. You should avoid hitting wrong keys more than trying to be quick! If you type slowly, considering your key strokes, it will be much easier to fight off the attacks.
A level is won, when the last space ship of the wave is eliminated. Planet Earth is saved if all 40 attacks are won. If a space ship has landed on the planet, the game is lost. You always can repeat the level.
In the game window, press the Space bar.
A message box will tell you, which keys are used in the current level.
You can click
the OK-button usually by hitting the Space key again.
Sometimes the program acts strangely after using the Space bar for clicking the button; try reloading the game to correct this.
If this still doesn't solve the problem, try clicking the OK-button the first time using your mouse.
At the right bottom you find a drop down list, that lets you select the starting level.
The goal is to learn typing without peeking on the keyboard and the game has been designed accordingly. You will be most successful, if you focus on a constant typing rhythm. Speed will automatically follow from that!
Try hard not to look at your fingers, instead use the cheat sheet shown in the game window.
It helps a lot to build a cover for your keyboard to prevent you from looking at your fingers,
thus speeding up the de-programming of your unwanted eye-finger conditioning.
On this cover you may want to attach a keyboard schematic, so you still can cheat
while using other programs.
Use the Shift-, Alt- and Ctrl-keys with the unused hand.
If you keep practicing every day, you should start feeling the benefits of touch typing after a few weeks.
